Narkol Chingri - Coconut Prawns

Serves 2

Ingredients
250 gm. prawns- shelled and washed 1/2 tender coconut (not dry type)
1/2 kg. onion 1/2 inch piece ginger
3 tsp. yellow mustard -ground 2 green chillies
5 tsp. mustard oil 5 tbsp. thick flour paste
1 big ball of soft mud salt to taste

Method

  1. Soak the yellow mustard in 6-8 tbsp. water for 5-10 minutes, then grind with green chillies, salt, onion and ginger.
  2. Then mix this and the mustard oil with the prawns.
  3. Cut a small opening at one end of the coconut and put in the prawn mixture.
  4. Make a flour paste and seal the opening.Now cover the whole coconut with soft mud to make a nice big ball.
  5. Put the ball on the slow fire, over a metal grid turning it around on all sides.
  6. When the mud has burnt nicely red, take out the ball.
  7. Clean off the mud, break the coconut and serve the prawns with rice.
